Photo & Video Contest Opens for All College Students in NCR

A photography and video making competition opens for all college students in the National Capital Region (NCR) this month and will culminate in a grand awards night to be held at the Fleur De Liz Auditorium of St. Paul’s College, Manila on August 30 this year, in line with the celebration of National Heroes’ Day. Titled Youth and Nation Photo & Video Competition, the contest is anchored on the theme “My Country, My Commitment, My Community” and aims to produce and highlight the most creative photography and video portrayal of youth and society in action for the common goal of nation building.

The Youth and Nation Photo & Video Competition encourages today’s youth, particularly college students, to express their sentiments on the pertinent need for national unity and nation building and to artistically interpret their ideas through photography and video making. While it underscores the role that the Filipino youth plays in the country’s progress and development, the contest also encourages young Filipinos to present imaginative and innovative approaches to solving the challenging problems the country faces today.

The contest has three categories: Photography, MTV, and Documentary Video. Participants may join as individuals or groups but each individual or group may only submit one entry per category. All entries must reflect the contest theme “My Country, My Commitment, My Community.” Deadline for submission of entries is on August 8, 2009.

Photography winners will receive the cash prizes P20,000 (first prize), P10,000 (second prize), and P5,000 (third prize). For the MTV and Documentary Video categories, three winners for each category will also be chosen and will receive P30,000 (first prize), P20,000 (second prize), and P10,000 (third prize).

The Youth and Nation Photo & Video Competition is organized by media.Xchange PR Consultancy Services, in association with St. Paul’s College, Livelihood Enhancement Facility (Relief) Inc. and TV5.
