Last Friday, December 5, the segment producers and researchers of TV5’s Pulis! Pulis! were caught in a crossfire between police operatives and suspected Waray Waray and Ozamis robbery groups in the Sucat area of Paranaque City.
There were no reports of casualties from the TV5 crew, but the team was able to tape an actual footage of the gun battle.
The shootout, which took place in the United Paranaque Subdivision 4, caused the lives of 16 people including a police, a seven-year-old girl and her vacationing OFW father, a truck helper and 12 suspected robbers.
Victims' families are calling for justice, and the Commission on Human Rights is already investigating and is pointing to "lapse in judgement" for the police. Senators are dipping into the newest crime issue and arguing to review the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) Rules of Engagement. Despite these mishaps, PNP is asking the public to understand the principle of "collateral damage."
Before making hard conclusions, watch the entirety of the exclusive shootout footage tonight (December 11) on Pulis! Pulis! at 8:30 p.m. on TV5.
