Miss World Philippines 2012 excites Twitter universe with new Q&A portionJune 29, 2012
This year’s Miss World Philippines achieved a television and pageant milestone as it implemented an unusual and more dynamic question-and-answer format. Instead of the traditional judges’ questions, viewers were asked to tweet their questions for the finalists with the #AskMsWorldPH hashtag.
This was the first time in Philippine beauty pageant history that the viewers and social media citizens were granted this kind of privilege, one that could seal the fate of the finalists and directly shape the competition’s outcome. The response was overwhelming as hundreds of #AskMsWorldPH entries were sent by the tweeting public.
Out of all the submissions, these five questions from these Twitter judges emerged as the most relevant, original and creative. These were asked live on the June 24 Pageant Night held at the Manila Hotel:
In return for helping find the Filipina that best exemplified the pageant’s “Beauty with a Purpose” value, the lucky question-tweeters will be rewarded hotel accommodations from Agoda.com, the official hotel provider of Miss World Philippines 2012.
Other entries that did not make it to the Q&A were acknowledged and shared on the Pageant Night’s special Social Media segment. Funny DJ Mr. Fu and ex-beauty queen Pat Fernandez delighted viewers by reading out the witty questions and giving their own equally humorous answers. In addition, the duo also ran through the barrage of #MsWorld comments about the coronation night that successfully enabled the event to trend on Twitter.
The widely watched affair, as well as the pre-pageant series of activities, was well-documented by our partner pageant and regional bloggers, TV5’s officially designated Miss World Philippines 2012 Correspondents. Ensuring their comfort and convenience in covering the event was Agoda.com, who generously provided their hotel accommodations.
