Gwendoline Ruais is the Miss World 2011 First Princess!June 4, 2012
Gwendoline Ruais left last October 19, 2011 to compete for the Miss World 2011 finals in Earls Court, London as the first Miss World Philippines. She came back to bring pride to the Philippines as the Miss World 2011 First Princess.
It has been more than three decades since Miss Philippines was crowned as Miss World First Princess as represented by Evangeline Pascual in the 1973 pageant, and 16 years since Miss Philippines became a top placer as Miss World Second Princess as represented by Ruffa Guttierez in the 1993 pageant.
Winners are given points for fast track events to increase their chances of placing in the Top 15. Gwen dominated 3 out of the 5 fast track events.
Miss Philippines ranked 5th in the “Beauty with a Purpose” category by gaining 25 points, 3rd in the “Top Model” event by gaining 17 points and 21st in the “Beach Body” event by gaining 5 points. Her humility, bright personality and determination showed throughout the pageant since Day 1, earning Gwen a grand total of 176 points to place 9th overall in the preliminaries. She wowed the audience on Pageant Night by gaining another 40 points. She ranked next to Miss Venezuela, Ivian Sarcos, who was crowned Miss World 2011.
