TV5's Talentadong Pinoy continues its success on second year

Without a doubt, TV5's Talentadong Pinoy, hosted by Ryan Agoncillo, has made its mark on Philippine TV. In fact, it has become one of the most popular television programs, achieving ratings that are intimidating to any genre of television - not just reality TV alone - with consistent viewership uptrend that put it in the no. 1 spot, ruling Saturday Primetime since June 2009.

But this is just a validation of the show's big success, for its real success is inextricably tied to the success of its purpose: to discover and showcase true and authentic Pinoy talent, and to continue this purpose to inspire and catapult local talent into the national and international arena.

Thousands of Hopefuls, 5 Hall of Famers
Out of almost 6000 applicants - and counting - who auditioned since August 2008, more than 500 have made it to the limelight of national television—hundreds of them given more opportunities to showcase their talents in different entertainment arena such as Jessa Mendoza in Lipgloss, Elmo Rodriguez in Kiddie Kwela, Mark Mangaliman "The man with 60 voices" in several TV5 shows, and the 'Guttierez Acrobatic Family', who has been performing internationally, to name a few.

Although the show has discovered thousands of amazing talents, it still is currently on the lookout for more talents to be added to the five outstanding performers in the Talentadong Pinoy Hall of Fame, namely Wanlu the Puppeteer, The Guttierez Acrobatic Family, Joshua "The Yoyo Tricker" Davis, The Tribal Dancers, and the latest addition who is a singer, Leah Patricio, proving the show worthy of numerous prestigious awards including Best Talent Show in the recently held 1st MTRCB Awards last September.

No talent exploitations
In just a span of one year, Talentadong Pinoy has been witness to thousands of astounding Pinoy talent—performances ranging from singers, dancers, musicians and comedians, to contortionists, acrobats, impressionists, toy exhibitionists and magicians coming from all cities and provinces in the country, to which more than P5 million has already been given away and awarded to the winning talents.

The show has also spawned a spin-off entitled Kuwentong Talentado, wherein even common Pinoys who have interesting talents and inspiring stories are featured to promote the show's objective of cultivating real stories of real talent. "For as long as you have a unique talent and story to share, pasok ka rito." says Ryan. "But in the two shows, we make sure that the talents aren't exploited. There will be no dole-outs," explains Ryan in one of his interviews.

Ongoing auditions
Going forward, Talentadong Pinoy continues to hold auditions this month for thousands more hopefuls on October 24 at Jed's Island Resort in Bulacan, October 21 at SM Baliuag, and October 28 at SM Southmall.

A series of mall auditions will also happen in November, to be followed by one of the biggest upcoming Talentadong Pinoy auditions, traditionally held at the TV5 LIVE Caravan which is expected to honk its way in December.

All this can be viewed as a big success for both TV5 and Talentadong Pinoy, because while the network successfully expands its viewership base, it shows that it is in line with its objective and it keeps true to its promise of discovering and cultivating new talents now that it is on its second year, and that it is a strong third contender that continues to break the network duopoly through its innovation.

Continue supporting real Pinoy talent and enjoy watching Talentadong Pinoy on Saturdays, 7:30pm, and Kuwentong Talentado on Mondays at 8:00pm, both hosted by Ryan Agoncillo, on TV5.
