InterAksyon.com, the online news portal of TV5, goes head-to-head with the big leagues as a veritable source of news and information moreso now as it added a few feathers on its cap in 2011.
The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) bestowed the Quill Award of Excellence in Communication Skill for Electronic and Digital Communication at the 10th Philippine Quill Awards held last November. Being the local counterpart of the IABC Gold Quill Awards, this award-giving body recognizes media and corporate drivers and its efforts to raise the standards of communications worldwide.
For guiding motorists and the riding public commute around Metro Manila wisely, the Traffic Navigator (TNAV) was given the Bronze Award for Innovation at the 2011 Boomerang Awards by the Internet and Mobile Marketing Association of the Philippines (IMMAP). TNAV delivers real-time traffic data of more than 100 intersections monitored by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA). This web and mobile app is the first and only one of its kind in the Philippines. TNAV is also a finalist at the 2011 Digital Filipino Social Networking Awards.
For its socially relevant content, the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) presented InterAksyon.com with the Interactive Media Award at the 2011 Migration Advocacy and Media Awards. The news portal was cited for its article "Highlights and Lowlights: 38 Years of Pinoys Abroad" where Joseph Holandes Ubalde discussed the issues of labor migration in the Philippines since the global oil crisis of the 1970's, and how it forced thousands of Filipinos to find work overseas. The MAM Awards aim to raise public awareness on issues regarding Filipino migration, where only seven media works were chosen from 64 official entries in different categories.
