One of the latest developments in mobile phone technology came in the form of virtual assistants, offering an experience that practically eliminated the need for keypads or styluses. Using artificial intelligence, they executed commands at the sound of a human voice like HAL 9000 from Stanley Kubrick’s science fiction classic "2001: A Space Odyssey".
